It's about speed, explosion and watching skilled athletes run great times. Athletes are timed at 10-, 20-, and 40- yard intervals. The explosion from a static start (completely motionless) and acceleration is what's measured.
Sheer test of strength and endurance. Athletes are tested at 135 lbs.
Athletes are tested on explosiveness from a static, flat-footed start and reach as high as possible.
The broad jump tests balance and lower-body stength. Athletes explode out as far as possible and land without falling forward or backward.
Also known as the 5-10-5, this drill measures lateral quickness and explosion in short areas, starting from a static 3-point stance.
The L-Drill tests the atlete's agility, quickness, flexibility, change of direction and body control, starting from a static 3-point stance.
POSITION DRILLS Evaluators focus on footwork, getting the ball out, ball security and arm strength. QBs throw the entire route tree. Starting from a 2-point stance, evaluators focus on the initial burst, acceleration around the corner, vision and change of direction. Evaluators focus on hand-to-eye coordination, ball control, vision, and getting your turned and eyes on the QB. Pass protection; athletes perform this drill twice, from a 2-point stance and 3-point stance. Evaluators look for balance, punching the defender and getting out of the stance.
Athletes perform this drill twice, from the left side (rip) and right side (swim). Evaluators look at ball get off, and the angle of pursuit. Evaluators look for cover ability, fluid movement, and body position to the ball handler. Also gauges if the LB is a 2-down, or 3-down player.
Evaluators focus on ball skills, change of direction, backpedal, and locating and getting to the ball.
